CODEBASE UNDERSTANDING REPORT
===========================

1. HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW
-------------------
This project is a custom E-commerce application built on the CodeIgniter 3 PHP framework. It utilizes a monolithic MVC (Model-View-Controller) architecture but deviates from standard practices by heavily relying on "Helper" functions for business logic and view generation.

- Framework: CodeIgniter 3.x
- Language: PHP 7.x/8.x
- Database: MySQL
- Frontend: server-side rendered (PHP Views) with Bootstrap 4/5, jQuery, and custom JS.

2. DEPENDENCY MAP

Request: GET /product_detail/super-gut-powder

1. [Browser Request]
       │
       ▼
2. [Routing] (application/config/routes.php)
   matches: $route['product_detail/(:any)'] = 'home/product_detail/$1';
       │
       ▼
3. [Controller] (application/controllers/Home.php)
   Method: product_detail($slug)
       │
       ├── Call: productsfetch_by_Slug($slug) [via Helper]
       │       └── DB Query via Operation_model
       ├── Call: fetch_all('product_faqs') [via Operation_model]
       │
       ▼
4. [View Assembly] ($data array construction)
   $data = [
       'page' => 'Product Detail',
       'product_detail' => {Object},
       'main_content' => ['header', 'product_details/index', 'footer']
   ]
       │
       ▼
5. [Response] ($this->load->view('index', $data))
   - Loads Master Template
   - Injects Header
   - Injects 'product_details/index' (Uses $product_detail data)
   - Injects Footer
   - Sends HTML to Browser

4. FOLDER & FILE PURPOSE
---------------------
- application/
  - config/
    - routes.php: Custom URL routing. Critical for SEO-friendly URLs.
    - database.php: DB connection settings.
    - autoload.php: Auto-loads 'database', 'session', 'home_helper', etc.
  - controllers/
    - Home.php: Handles 80% of frontend traffic (Home, Products, Details, Static Pages).
    - Add_to_cart.php: AJAX endpoints for cart operations.
    - panel/: Admin dashboard controllers.
  - helpers/
    - home_helper.php: Contains fetch logic (get_new_arrivals) AND presentation logic (render_product_card_new).
  - models/
    - Operation_model.php: A universal wrapper for all CRUD operations. Almost no specific logic; just wraps CI Query Builder.
  - views/
    - frontend/index.php: The main "shell" template.
    - frontend/layouts/: Header/Footer partials.

- assets/
  - CSS/JS/Images for the frontend.

- uploads/
  - Stores user/admin uploaded content (product images, banners).

5. SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
-------------------
- Low-Level: Standard CodeIgniter execution (Index -> Core -> Controller).
- Data Access: Abstracted entirely through `Operation_model`. There are no specific models like `Product_model` or `User_model`.
- View Layer: Composite View pattern. The Controller builds a list of view paths (`main_content` array) and passes them to a master layout (`views/index.php`) which iterates and includes them.

6. CORE BUSINESS LOGIC
-------------------
- Product Cards: Logic for displaying price, discount badges, and star ratings is embedded in helper functions (`render_product_card_new` in `home_helper.php`).
- Variants: Products have a complex variant system (Size/Duration) handled by `productsVariants()`. Logic prioritizes the "shortest duration" variant for display prices.
- Cart: Session-based. Products are stored with composite keys (`product_id` + `_` + `variant_id`).
- Enquiries: Leads are captured in `enquiries` table via `Home::enquiry_now`.

7. EXTERNAL DEPENDENCIES
---------------------
- Payment Gateways:
  - Razorpay (`razorpay/razorpay`)
  - Mercado Pago (`mercadopago/dx-php`)
- Communication:
  - Twilio (`twilio/sdk`) for SMS.
  - PHPMailer (`phpmailer/phpmailer`) for Transactional Emails.
- Utility:
  - mPDF (`mpdf/mpdf`) for generating PDF invoices.

8. CONFIGURATION & SECURITY
------------------------
- Secrets: Database credentials are hardcoded in `database.php` (Risk). API Keys likely in code or DB specific tables (`manage_apis` route suggests DB storage).
- Security:
  - XSS: `xss_clean` is used manually in Controllers.
  - Form Validation: CI Form Validation library is used (e.g., `Home::enquiry_now`).
- Logging: Standard PHP `error_log` enabled.

9. WEAK AREAS & RISKS
------------------
- "God Model" (Operation_model): This generic model encourages inefficient queries and makes it hard to track where specific tables are modified.
- Helper Logic: Generating HTML strings inside PHP functions (`render_product_card_new`) makes the code messy and hard to maintain. It breaks the "Separation of Concerns" principle.
- Hardcoded Secrets: Credentials in `database.php` should be moved to Environment variables (.env).
- Massive Controller: `Home.php` handles too many responsibilities (Products, Static Pages, Contact, Policies).

10. SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS
-----------------------
- Scalability: Break `Home.php` into `Products.php`, `Pages.php`, `Checkout.php`.
- Maintainability: Move HTML generation out of Helpers and into View Partials.
- Security: Implement a `.env` file for credentials using `vlucas/phpdotenv` (if supported) or CI environment config.
- Performance: Add caching for expensive queries (Menu items, Top Sliders) which are currently fetched on every request.
